Shingle Rating Class - What to Know

Shingle Rating Class helps your insurance carrier determine the durability of your roof system. There are 4 Classes of shingles, rated on their impact resistance where 4 is the highest. In 2024, several shingles across multiple manufacturers were upgraded to class 3 shingles. Depending on the shingle class rating of your roof, Insurance Providers may offer lower insurance premiums for impact resistant roof systems.

•             Timberline HDZ® RS

•             Timberline UHDZ®

•             TimberTex® Premium Ridge Cap Shingles

•             Seal-A-Ridge® Ridge Cap Shingles

•             Z® Ridge Distinctive Ridge Cap Shingles

 

Other Manufacturer’s, Products Updated to Class 3:

•             GAF | Timberline HDZ  (Only for Shingles manufactured January 1, 2024 and after)

•             IKO | Cambridge (Only for Shingles manufactured January 1, 2024 and after)

•             Owens Corning | Duration (Only for Shingles manufactured January 1, 2022 and after)

•             CertainTeed | Landmark (Only for Shingles installed in 2024 and after)

•             Malarkey | Highlander (Only for Shingles installed January 1, 2023 and after)

 

Depending on your insurance provider they may offer a lower insurance premium for a roof system with Class 3 Impact-Rated Shingles!
